Brining hope to Chikhwawa
NAPS Malawi left for Chikhwawa District for three weeks mission: 1st through 24th July 2011. Chinangwa village have a very high illiteracy rate because many youths drop out from school, and there is a high rate of alcohol abuse.
The Children Program
The program started from 4:45 to 5:45 every day and children’s participation was very encouraging. The attendance ranged from 200 to 250 children per day. Many arrived at meeting place much earlier than us and we were surprised find that they have swept the place without even being told. Children were more privileged since they were receiving the lessons three times a day.
On second Sunday; 17th July we had fun day where we played different games with kids. The most pleasing thing about this fun-day was that even the elderly and youths flocked to the pitch where the games took place. This activity brought us closer to people, it helped us to build strong relationship with the villagers. We could see women playing along and men watching and supporting their kids.
Door-to-Door Visitations
In this mission there were seven two-by-two teams. The visitations were commencing at 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and on Fridays they were commencing from 8:30 to 12:00. Looking at the vastness of the task, all teams complained on visitation time that was not enough. As such, we rescheduled our time by commencing at 9:00 to 3:00 but still was not enough and for the sake of other programs, we could not adjust it any further we just accepted our fewness.
Sucess
Through God’s mercy, seventy six souls surrendered their lives to Christ and got baptised. This was a joyous moment for the whole team and to the baptised.
