A contingent from The National Association for the Prevention of Starvation (NAPS) departed at 5:30 this morning with and is currently flying into the Dominican Republic. At the airport, they were welcomed by the kindness of Delta Airlines who waived all baggage fees for the relief group. Also waiting for them were additional supplies donated by Huntsville hotels.
The team taking the relief and supplies is composed of three Haitian-American students, a physician, a NAPS Spanish translator, and the president of the organization, Dr. Anthony Paul. One of the students, Jeffery Pascal, is in search of his father, George Pascal. Jeffery’s father had planned to visit his family in the United States next week. The last time Jeffery spoke with his father was Tuesday just hours before the earthquake. His dad called him at 4:19 p.m., but he missed the call. The earthquake struck at 4:53 p.m. He has not been able to get in touch with him since then.
Once Jeffery and the team touch down in the Dominican Republic they will navigate their way into Haiti. There they will provide medical relief and take preventative actions against the onset of cholera. Most important to Jeffery he will be able to look for his father and by the grace of God, the news will be good. Please keep Haiti and the NAPS team in your prayers.
